About the project

The Oceanshot Project is a collaborative initiative providing marine researchers with access to high-throughput environmental DNA sequencing services. Our goal is to democratize access to cutting-edge genomic tools for ocean biodiversity monitoring. Researchers submit sample metadata below to request services ranging from DNA extraction through full bioinformatic analysis.

Data policy

Open data agreement

The Oceanshot Project is committed to open science. All sequencing data, associated metadata, and derived analyses generated through this program will be made publicly available through recognized repositories no later than 3 years from the date of data generation.

I understand and agree that all data generated through the Oceanshot Project will become publicly available within 3 years of generation.

Extracted DNA Highly preferred

DNA has already been extracted and is ready for library preparation. Ship at room temperature.

Unextracted sample

Raw sample requiring DNA extraction before processing.

Shipping unextracted samples is significantly more expensive due to cold-chain requirements and international shipping regulations. We strongly encourage researchers to perform DNA extraction locally if possible. Contact us at [email protected] to discuss extraction protocols before shipping.
